Ukraine invasion leads Canada to purchase anti-tank weapons, counter drone systems

The Canadian military will fast-track the purchase of new anti-tank missiles, air defence systems and counter-drone equipment in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Defence Minister Anita Anand announced the acquisition plans Mar. 9, noting the systems are urgent operational requirements in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The equipment will be used for Canada’s its battlegroup in Latvia,
