Social media shows TAPV rollover

Footage of a Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV) rollover on Highway 401 is showing up on social media.

The footage was posted March 20, but with no further details. It’s not the first time there have been problems with the TAPVs, a wheeled combat vehicle that can fulfill a variety of roles on the battlefield.

The video has since been posted on Youtube.

On Jan. 14, 2019, the Ottawa Citizen newspaper reported that the Canadian Army’s new armoured vehicles have been plagued by rollovers and fires, the latest in a series of problems to affect the $600-million fleet.

Since April 2014, there have been 10 incidents when Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicles tipped onto their sides, six where they rolled over completely, and four where they caught fire.
